BRIEF
For this collaborative project, I worked with other students from different courses such as Illustration, Animation and Textiles. This project focused on the curation of museums. It was our responsibility to decide what we wanted to incorporate into our own museum and whether we worked in a group or individually. I chose to pair up with a fellow Graphic Design student to create the branding of the museum and design/curate the space.

RESPONSE
I learnt a lot about the curation of museums and the responsibilities which come with bringing ideas into a space. My partner and I took it upon ourselves to manage, campaign and set up the event by creating posters, a booklet containing the work of fellow students, design the museum space and display the work of other students.
Together, we collected art pieces from each student and carefully categorised them through colour coding. We did this to ensure the public could view the displays in an easy and effective way, while also being able to find and identify specific categories of art. The colour coding/categorising system allowed a better flow from one display to another which ultimately created a more efficient route for viewers. This colour coding was not only shown within the event itself but also through the event's booklet. In doing so, audiences would be able to be guided through the event easily by connecting the booklet’s colours to the colours seen throughout the space. Additionally, the inclusion of a booklet gave each student the opportunity to share more information regarding their art piece and how/why it was developed, thus allowing the audience to form a greater connection to each piece and the event in general.
The branding itself uses a variation of colours in order to represent the variation in art styles and the colour-coding of the space/booklet. We wanted its design to remain minimal as we felt that it was important to keep the event’s main focus on the students art. The imagery was developed through the collection of images my partner and I took of art while visiting Cardiff museum. This was done as a homage to all of the other fantastic pieces of art currently on display in Cardiff, as we hoped the imagery would inspire the current students to aim high and remain proud of their work.
We named our exhibition “Youseum” as a play on words to signify the representation of each student through their artwork.
